Investigators say fire at Perry County church was intentionally set

JUNCTION CITY, Ohio – A Perry County church that stood for more than 100 years is a total loss after a fire on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene near Walnut Street and Mulberry Street just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

On Sunday, the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church was intentionally set.

The spokesperson said the damage is so bad, they are still trying to locate where the fire started in the church.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation.

The church was built in 1874 and opened in 1875.

No one was hurt in the fire.
