Infant dies after being struck by SUV in northeast Columbus

Columbus Police has confirmed that a child was killed after being struck by a vehicle Thursday.

The crash happened along Westerville Road north of Innis Road, located in Mifflin Township.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Muhuba Mohamed was driving a Toyota Rav4 northbound on Westerville Road when she lost control and drove off the road.

The vehicle struck a pedestrian pushing an infant in a stroller on the roadside before hitting a residence located on Westerville Road.

The pedestrian was identified as 23-year-old Kenan Ferebee. The child in the stroller was Kenan’s 7-month-old son, Micah Ferebee.

Micah was pronounced dead at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Kenan was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

Mohamed was wearing a seatbelt and did not report any injuries.

It is unknown if either alcohol or drugs are a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
