Hopper Carts will give people free rides around Short North, downtown Columbus

There's a new way to get around the busy Columbus downtown and Short North area.

The carts rollout Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

You can hitch a ride on a Hopper Cart.

Hopper Carts will operate primarily in the Short North and downtown Columbus, so that'll get you to Nationwide Arena, North Market and Huntington Park free of charge.

The electric vehicles are fully enclosed with six seats, seatbelts, and heaters.

The website says the rides are both free and eco-friendly.

The service will be paid for by partnerships with local and national companies, sponsoring the carts.
