Home significantly damaged, no one hurt in east Columbus fire


COLUMBUS, Ohio – A fire at an east Columbus home Saturday night caused significant damage to the house.

The fire started around 7:45 p.m. at a house in the 1200 block of Norman Drive, near Big Walnut Park.

When firefighters arrived, fire was coming out of the windows.

The firefighters made the decision to fight the flames from outside the house because the fire was so heavy.

The Columbus Division of Fire said the fire was soon extinguished.

The fire damaged much of the roof in addition to the inside of the home.

No one was hurt, but the Red Cross is assisting one adult and six children displaced by the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
