COLUMBUS, Ohio — A gas leak led to the evacuation of a primary care center in west Columbus Thursday.

The Columbus Division of Fire says construction crews hit a commercial gas main while drilling underground around 1:30 p.m., causing an outside gas leak.

Officials say gas was entering the Hilltop Primary Care Center located in the 28000 block of West Broad Street, which has been evacuated. A church at Roys Avenue and West Broad served as a temporary shelter.

West Broad Street was closed from Roys Avenue to Hague Avenue but has since been reopened.

Columbia Gas says a crew is on scene and making repairs.
