HILLIARD, Ohio — The Hilliard Police Department is asking for the public’s help with clues that could help identify individuals involved in a rash of thefts.

Sargent Suzanne Muraco with the Hilliard Police Department says in the last three weeks, they have seen an uptick in car break-ins, car thefts and home burglaries.

“I absolutely believe it’s a crime of opportunity,” Muraco said.

She says the crimes are focused on three specific subdivisions: Lakewood, Timberbrook in Norwich Township and Heritage Preserve.

Victims report having everything from sunglasses and spare change stolen from cars to purses and power tools stolen from inside of homes.

Hilliard Police are asking residents to review their doorbell cameras or security systems for any unusual activity.
