Highway reopens after about 81 vehicles involved in crashes on I-71 east of Mount Gilead


MORROW COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to crashes involving 81 vehicles on Interstate 71 east of Mount Gilead.

I-71 north was shut down in the area of mile marker 154-155, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

There was a heavy snow front in this area at the time causing limited to no visibility.

Southbound lanes were closed for a while and northbound lanes were closed for several hours.

All lanes have since reopened.

Traffic was diverted onto State Route 95 to bypass the closed section of I-71.

Only minor injuries have been reported at this time, according to OSHP.
