Ahead of Memorial Day, students from Lancaster High School took part in a way to remember those who have served the country.

Mayor David Scheffler says students from the school’s marketing class and teacher Jennifer Blanchard placed 4,000 U.S. flags in the Veteran’s Square downtown.

The flags will remain for Memorial Day weekend and will be removed Tuesday morning.

“A special thank you to the students for honoring our men and women in uniform,” Scheffler wrote in a Facebook post.
