Grove City Officer Receives Praise For Saluting Funeral Procession


A local law enforcement officer is receiving praise for his kind act last week.

Grove City Police posted on Facebook about a message they received from Jeffrey Folk.

Folk snapped a photo of a Grove City officer saluting his grandfather's funeral service on February 3.

“If anyone knows this officer please give him a special thank you. You saluted to my grandpa’s funeral service. We were leaving Newcomers and passed by him at Gantz Park on Feb 3rd approximately 3:30 p.m.”

Grove City Police thanked Folk for his kind words identified the officer as Officer Kitko from their K9 unit.

They point out the dog isn't a K9 officer, but a stray dog that Officer Kitko was able to capture.

"Even though Officer Kitko was involved with something else it did not stop him from paying respect to Mr. Folk’s grandfather," Grove City Police posted. "Our action of Respect means we will treat all people with the utmost dignity, courtesy and equality."
