COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A reported gas leak prompted evacuations at Nationwide Arena and other buildings in downtown Columbus on Monday.

The Columbus Division of Fire responded to the reports just before noon Monday.

The arena and three other buildings in the 300 block of North Front Street were evacuated. Some roads in the area were also closed.

The fire department said the gas leak was contained just before 2:30 p.m.

Areas within the arena are still closed but the surrounding buildings are open.

Crews with the Columbus Division of Fire and Columbia Gas are at the scene.

The Blue Jackets canceled a practice scheduled at the arena Monday. The team will instead hold a morning skate on Tuesday ahead of that night's game versus Washington.
