The Walt Disney Company says it is releasing "Frozen 2" to its Disney+ streaming service three months ahead of schedule to surprise "families with some fun and joy during this challenging period."

Schools in Ohio and other parts of the country were ordered to be closed for a period of time in response to the coronavirus outbreak. In addition, businesses and events were forced to either temporarily shut down or make adjustments.

“‘Frozen 2’ has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device,” said Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek in a news release.
