Franklin County deputy released from hospital after being shot in the line of duty

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot in the line of duty earlier this month has been released from Grant Medical Center.

Deputy Jacob Heaberlin, 29, was escorted home by deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Columbus Division of Police.

Heaberlin was shot in his abdomen, just below his protective vest, after he pulled over a suspect who opened fire.

Heaberlin is a seven-year veteran of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
