Former Ohio State football standout Jerry Krall passes away at 92

One of the earlier four-year football lettermen in Ohio State history, Jerry Krall has died. He was 92.

Ohio State said Krall passed away on June 2 in Rossford.

Krall, who attended Toledo’s Libbey High School, lettered for the Buckeyes in 1945, 1946, 1948 and 1949.

He was the leading rusher on the 1949 team with 606 yards and four touchdowns.

Ohio State won the Big Ten title that year and defeated California in the 1950 Rose Bowl.

During his career, Krall rushed for 1,435 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also threw for six touchdowns during his time at the university.

Krall played three seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Cardinals.
