COLUMBUS – A former Favret Company employee is in custody after an embezzlement investigation by Columbus Police.

Anthony S. Romaker, 56, was taken into custody after The Favret Company (Heating & Cooling) filed an embezzlement report.

According to police, Romaker embezzled $1,141,533 by fraudulently adding income to his weekly pay from May 2008 through September 2017.

This happened at The Favret Company (Heating & Cooling) located at 1296 Dublin Rd. in Columbus.

Romaker was employed at the company until his termination in October 2017, according to police.

Police say Romaker is being held at the Franklin County Jail.

A court date has yet to be set. The investigation is ongoing.

Favret Company issued the following statement:

"We were saddened to learn in October of 2017 of discrepancies in bookeeping by our former controller Anthony Romaker. Anthony was a longtime trusted member of our team and we were very sorry to learn then about his alleged activities that apparently cost our company nearly $1.2 million. Following Anthony's termination in October and a thorough investigation, today's arrest brings some relief. Through the course of the investigation, our company has also been assured that none of our customers were impacted by Anthony's activities and their data remained secure. At this point, we will have no further comment as we let the legal process work."
