First-year Ohio State students move in ahead of fall semester

A big day for some college freshman. The first wave of students is moving into the dorms at Ohio State.

About 3,500 students moved in Thursday. They are first-year students who agreed to come early to help with the big move-in of all college students Saturday.

Ohio State has a finely tuned process for move-in. All students are given an arrival time. They come first to the Schottenstein Center.

They are moved through a line to the dorms where the student volunteers unload the cars and take the items up to the rooms.

“We just move everything in that we can, in a quick and efficient manner, they go park and they’re all moved in,” said Zeta Tau Alpha sorority member Roslyn Rathbone.

Roughly, 11,000 students will move into the dorms Saturday.
