Fatal crash shuts down I-270 on northeast side of Columbus


COLUMBUS - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 270 on the northeast side Columbus.

Authorities were called just before 8 a.m. Thursday to a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on I-270 southbound near I-670.

A Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle was traveling southbound on I-270, changed lanes, and struck the rear of a 2004 Honda CRV also going southbound on I-270.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 27-year-old Daniel Jones-Quartey.

The driver of the Honda CRV did not have any injuries.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. This incident remains under investigation.

This is one of three fatal crash involving a motorcycle in Columbus on Thursday.

One person was killed in a crash on Frank Road and another died after a crash on Morse Road.
