Early morning crash in south Columbus leaves 1 dead

One man has been killed following a single-vehicle crash in south Columbus early Saturday morning.

It happened at approximately 2:47 a.m. near the 1000 block of Williams Road.

Columbus police say David Hammond was traveling eastbound on Williams Road when he lost control of his Ford F-150. The vehicle then left the roadway, struck a fence, a house and a tree before coming to a rest. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:56 a.m.

Police have provided no further details at this time.
