Driver killed in multi-vehicle crash near Delaware (UPDATE)

A female driver is dead following a crash involving a flatbed tow truck just south of Delaware.

The crash was reported on US 23 at Cheshire Road just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the state highway patrol, the flatbed tow truck was driving northbound, approaching Cheshire Road.

A 2004 Lincoln LS was traveling south on US 23 and attempted to make a left turn onto Cheshire Road, failing to yield to the tow truck.

As a result, the tow truck struck the Lincoln on the passenger side. Both vehicles left the road and struck a tree.

The male driver of the tow truck sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Riverside Hospital.

The female driver of the Lincoln was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Her identity was not immediately provided by authorities.

Authorities also said they do not suspect alcohol or drug use as a cause of this crash.

As a result of the crash, US 23 northbound is closed at Cheshire Road.  As a detour, take SR 315.
