A dedicated fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets wanted to commemorate the historic NHL series sweep in a way he will never forget.

Dave Gauthier considers himself an ultimate fan. The middle school teacher was born in Canada but tells 10TV that he became Jackets fan during their inaugural season.

“I grew up watching hockey instead of any other sport, so when we got the team, it was just a game changer for me,” Gauthier said.

So when the Jackets made headlines with their first series win in franchise history, Gauthier wanted to mark the occasion.

“I’ve been wanting to get another Blue Jackets tattoo for a while,” Gauthier said. “When we won game two, I said to my wife, 'when we win this series, I’m going to have to finally pull the trigger.'”

Gauthier decided on a bold, brightly-colored logo of the teams’ mascot “Stinger” for his left thigh.

“It’s the current mascot, the old school jerseys that I grew up watching," he said. “I’m feeling confident that we are going to keep on going for the entire Stanley Cup playoffs and I’m going to get a tattoo for every step of the way."
