The Columbus Department of Public Service announced Tuesday morning that a portion of High Street has to close during daytime hours through the rest of the work week due to safety concerns.

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., High Street will close to northbound traffic between Goodale Street and West Starr Avenue, today through Friday, Oct. 26.

To get around the closure, use North 4th Street or Neil Avenue as alternate routes.

As part of the final steps in the Short North streetscape improvements, milling and paving began on High Street Monday. the city utilized flaggers Monday to try to keep two-way traffic open on High but the work became a safety concern for both pedestrians and the construction workers.

Paving is scheduled to finish Friday, Oct. 26, depending on weather. Any weather delay could push the project into early next week.
