Couple Sentenced For Thefts In Franklin, Delaware Counties

A couple was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to stealing thousands of dollars worth of large appliances from vacant homes.

According to the Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney, Monte Shoemaker and Alyssa Rhoads pleaded guilty in January to using fake work orders to access the vacant homes.

Shoemaker, 25, was sentenced to 56 months in prison for seven counts of fifth-degree theft and four fourth-degree felony counts of burglary. Rhoads, 22, was sentenced to six months in prison followed by four years of probation on three fourth-degree felony counts of burglary and six fifth-degree counts of theft.

Investigators said that when he was arrested, Shoemaker was in possession of keys to vacant homes and multiple fake work orders.
