The Central Ohio Transit Authority is offering free fares to federal workers due to the government shutdown.

COTA is providing a 31-day frequent/standard or rush hour pass to those employees. The offer began Wednesday.

Eligible workers are asked to show their government ID and furlough letter to obtain the pass. Employees can bring these items to COTA’s Pass Sales Office on the first floor of 33 N. High Street in Columbus between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Should the shutdown end, the passes will remain valid through the 31 days.
