Construction worker hit and killed on US-33 near Dublin

UNION COUNTY - The Union County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a construction worker was hit by a tractor-trailer and killed on US-33.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Teresa M. Howell of Greenwich, Ohio. Howell was employed by the Lake Erie Construction Company which was subcontracted by ODOT to perform guardrail maintenance.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of the tractor-trailer drove over several orange safety cones that had been placed in the righthand lane of US Route 33 eastbound, west of State Route 161.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the tractor-trailer that allegedly struck Howell was found in a warehouse on Williams Road in Columbus approximately 90 minutes after the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified, but not charged.

The crash remains under investigation.
