The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has released photos of the three African lion cubs who were born earlier this month.

The zoo announced the cubs were the first litter for 4-year-old Naomi last week.

Naomi’s pregnancy was a surprise to the zoo since the cub’s sire, Tomo, underwent a vasectomy in 2018. As the zoo points out, vasectomies can sometimes fail but it is rare.

Tomo was euthanized back in May at the age of 15 after his quality of life rapidly diminished due to age-related issues.

In an update from the zoo on Thursday, the three male cubs had passed their well check exams.
