Columbus woman struck by vehicle, killed while walking with son in Morrow County

A 34-year-old Columbus woman was struck and killed while walking on State Route 61, just north of I-71 in Morrow County Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Amanda E. Cumpton was walking on State Route 61 when she was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to OSHP. The driver left the scene and has not been identified.

Cumpton was transported to Morrow County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Cumpton had her teenage son with her at the time of the crash, but the boy was uninjured.

According to OSHP the only information available about the vehicle is that is is a dark-colored SUV or truck, possibly a Chevrolet with a missing passenger-side view mirror, and damage to the passenger side front fender.

The crash remains under investigation.
