Columbus teen dead after car fire on I-71 north in Richland County

RICHLAND COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a Columbus teen died in a car fire on Interstate 71 north, just north of State Route 95 in Richland County.

According to a press release from OSHP, a 2001 Ford Mustang was northbound on I-71 near mile marker 158 when it caught fire.

The vehicle pulled to the shoulder where it struck the guardrail and became fully engulfed. Gnim Talle, 19, was unable to exit the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 20-year-old Columbus man was able to exit the vehicle and was uninjured.

Interstate 71 northbound lanes were partially closed approximately two hours while the scene was being investigated.

It is unknown if alcohol and drug usage are a factor in the incident
