Police identify man killed in north Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police say one man was killed in a shooting in north Columbus on Saturday, the city's 143rd homicide.

At 6:49 p.m., Columbus Police were called to Beverage Warehouse located on East 11th Avenue on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, 27-year-old Richard P. Hodge Jr., inside the entry door of the store.

Hodge was transported to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries at 7:23 p.m., according to police.

Investigators believe the incident started outside in the parking lot. A vehicle did flee from the scene, according to police.

Police have not determined a motive or any suspects at this time.
