Columbus man shoots at robbers with their gun, one in critical condition

COLUMBUS -- Police said that a man who was being robbed grabbed the perpetrators gun and shot them Tuesday.

According to a press release, a 29-year-old man was in a home in the 1500 block of Granville Street when two people broke into his home. The suspects sprayed the man with pepper spray and demanded property.

A struggle ensued and one of the suspects dropped a loaded handgun. The victim picked up the gun and fired at the suspects, shooting one of them several times.

The suspects, both male and white, ran to a waiting vehicle and drove to Maryland Avenue where the uninjured suspect fled the scene.

The man who was shot was transported to Grant Medical Center and was taken into surgery. The man is in critical but stable condition.

The identity of the suspect remains unknown.
