Columbus man creates 'Star Wars' scene for Halloween yard decoration

Sure, you might have Halloween decorations in your front yard. Chances are, though, they're not like this.

It's a love for the season that stands tall above the rest. About 17 feet tall.

"Well, I'm a fan of Halloween," Bill Plessinger said.

Plessinger is also a fan of Star Wars.

"I've been known to take it to a new level," he said. "And, each Halloween, I've been stepping it up a notch."

He's wanted to put an Imperial Walker in his front yard for a couple years, now. This past July, he put his plans in motion.

"I figured if I'm going to do it, I should probably do it around Halloween," he said. "That seems like that would be the most ideal time to do it as opposed to Christmas, or summer, or in the winter time."

It's taken about a month to build. His materials are mostly two-by-fours and Luan wood. The dimensions are 17' x 20' x 6'.

Plessinger is 45 years old. He remembers seeing the original Star Wars trilogy in theaters.

And, yes, his wife let him do this.

"Yes," he said. "Yes, she's all for it."

So is the neighborhood of West Beaumont Road. Plessinger hopes it's a must-see attraction this Halloween night.

"A lot of people are telling their friends and I think we're going to get a lot of Halloween trick-or-treaters this year, because people want to bring their kids out to see it," he said.
