BUCYRUS -- The Bucyrus City School District placed itself on internal lockdown after a threat was made.

School spokesperson Chris Stone said there was a vague threat of violence made on social media about the district.

“We have initiated an internal lockdown at Bucyrus Elementary School and the Bucyrus Secondary School," Bucyrus Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said in a statement on the school's website. "Law enforcement officials are on site to ensure the safety and security of all Bucyrus City School District students and staff members. We would ask all families to stay away from the buildings until further notice. We will provide additional details as soon as possible.”

The lockdown, though, was lifted within about 45 minutes.
