Bucyrus City School District closes after bomb threat

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ohio -- The Bucyrus City School District received a bomb threat Thursday morning that prompted the district to close all its buildings.

According to the district, the threat was received via Twitter at 4:53 a.m. Thursday. The district closed all buildings at 7 a.m. and informed staff members shortly after.

A Columbus bomb squad began sweeping the buildings at 7:45 a.m. All schools were given an all-clear by 11:30 a.m.

All school activities, including evening activities, have been canceled for today in the district.

The superintendent says he will make a decision later tonight on whether to close or delay school tomorrow - but that decision will be based on the weather and the current wind-chill advisory.
