COLUMBUS -- The owners of BrewDog say they want to do their part to help "Save The Crew."

In a statement posted on their website, owners James Watt and Martin Dickie expressed interest in purchasing the Columbus Crew SC.

The statement read, in part, "We would love to facilitate and be involved in a potential purchase of the Columbus Crew from its current ownership structure and then immediately look to sell at least half of it back to the fans through crowdfunding."

The company also announced that they will launch a new beer called, Crew Brew. All profits from the beer's sales will be donated to #SaveTheCrew, according to Watt.

Crew Brew, a 4.4% golden ale, will be available draft only. The company will launch the new beer at BrewDog DogTap on Friday. It will then be available to ship to customers in Columbus on Monday, Nov. 20.

“Like most Crew fans here in Columbus, we were pretty devastated to hear there’s a possibility that we will lose them to Austin,” BrewDog USA's CEO Tanisha Robinson said. “And, here at BrewDog, we thought we could do something to help.”

Robinson says the Crew belongs to the fans.

“The team belong to the fans and the Crew is a super important part of our Columbus community and we want to do anything we can to keep them here,” she said.

And what they can do: Brew.

“It’s a serious consideration of our two founders, James Watt and Martin Dickie, who could definitely round up the cash to do it,” Robinson said.

Robinson says the owners are engaged with the city, the county and the Columbus Partnership hoping to buy the Crew and save it from possibly moving to Austin.

Land-Grant Brewing Company also makes a beer, Glory, specifically for the Columbus Crew. A spokeswoman released this statement concerning BrewDog, Monday:

"As a company that has used our resources to support the Crew over the past three years, and our platform to amplify the #SaveTheCrew message, Land-Grant welcomes any local company that chooses to do the same--especially one with the reach of Brew Dog."
