Body of fallen Lancaster soldier returns to US

DOVER, Del. — The body of a fallen soldier from Lancaster has returned to the United States.

The casket of Spc. Joseph Collette arrived in Dover, Delaware, Sunday morning for a dignified transfer.

Collette was killed on March 22 during an operation in Afghanistan.

He was a graduate of Lancaster High School in 2007.

The DOD said Collette joined the Army in 2010 and arrived at Fort Carson in 2012.

He was deployed to Afghanistan on December 27, 2018.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet.

Sgt. 1st Class Will Lindsay, of Cortez, Colorado was also killed in the operation
