Blue Jackets not hosting Winter Park in 2019

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets will not be hosting its Winter Park in 2019 after the event schedule was hampered by weather the last two years.

The winter attraction has been the home of an outdoor skating rink, which was open to the public and featured Blue Jackets practices, at McFerson Commons since 2015.

A spokesperson for the Blue Jackets released the following statement: “Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park will not be held in 2019. This was not an easy decision as Winter Park was enormously successful as part of the 2015 NHL All-Star Celebration and in its return the following year. However, poor weather resulted in more than one-third of scheduled ice time at the outdoor rink being cancelled each of the last two years. The Blue Jackets are open to bringing Winter Park back in the future, but no definitive decision has been made at this time.”
