BlackBerry gets into the car protection business

Former smartphone maker BlackBerry Ltd has launched new cybersecurity software, which identifies vulnerabilities in programs used in self-driving cars.

The software is called BlackBerry Jarvis.

Last year’s global ransomware attack, dubbed “WannaCry,” helped raise awareness of BlackBerry’s security software business.

BlackBerry is partnering with auto suppliers Delphi Automotive and Denso, internet search firm Baidu, chipmaker Qualcomm and Ford Motor Co.
