BB rifle recovered from vehicle after SWAT standoff near SR 315 & I-270 in north Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – One person is in custody after a SWAT standoff in north Columbus Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, they received a call from someone saying there was a man outside of a vehicle with a rifle on the ramp from State Route 315 southbound to Interstate 270 eastbound.

Worthington and Columbus police along with other local law enforcement agencies worked with OSHP to secure the area and close the highways and nearby roads.

Columbus SWAT was called in to assist and were able to take the man into custody. The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Officers on the scene recovered a BB rifle and a knife. No charges have been filed at this time.

I-270, SR-315 and West Wilson Bridge Road were closed in all directions for about an hour and a half. All roads have reopened.
