Barricade at southeast Columbus apartment stemmed from domestic situation

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police and SWAT officers were on the scene of a barricade situation that began as a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in southeast Columbus for several hours Friday.

Police said officers responded to Waterfall Lane Friday on a domestic call around 3:30 p.m.

Police said the scene was clearing around 11:30 p.m.

On Saturday, CPD took to social media to explain the incident.

According to the post, the male suspect was accused of threatening his girlfriend with a gun. Officers made contact with him and she said he'd shoot at officers if they didn't leave.

Upon SWAT's arrival, the man fired several shots inside the home.

After more than eight hours, SWAT entered the home and the man was taken into custody.
