Athens County man sentenced to prison for burglary, gross sexual imposition

An Athens County man has pleaded guilty to breaking into two homes and attempting to have sex with male occupants.

John W. Baker, 25 of Nelsonville, was charged with two counts of burglary, kidnapping and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Athens County Prosecutor Keller J. Blackburn said Baker entered the homes of the two victims without permission.

“At the first residence, Baker did enter through a window, attack the victim in his sleep and forcibly held him against his will for his own sexual motivation,” Blackburn said.

Blackburn said the second victim awoke to find Baker pulling down his boxers.

“Initially, the victim was unable to leave due to the difference in size between himself and Baker but was ultimately able to break free and call the police,” he said.

Baker was sentenced to 10 years in prison and is to be classified as a Tier II Sex Offender.
