Ambulance overturns on SR-315 in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio - An ambulance for a private company crashed on SR-315 near Ackerman Road Thursday night, according to Columbus police.

Police said they received a call about an overturned ambulance in the southbound lanes between North Broadway and Ackerman Road after 10:15 p.m.

A police dispatcher told 10TV they were not aware of any injuries at the time and the highway was never completely closed.

According to the crash report, the driver of the ambulance hit a guard rail on the right side of the road then spun around before flipping onto the ambulance's side.

The crash report states the driver of the ambulance was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with back pain.

A patient who was in the back of the ambulance was taken to the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center by another medic, according to the crash report. The ambulance was headed to the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center when it crashed.

The crash report states the ambulance is owned by Life Support Team in Mansfield.

The ramp from SR-315 southbound to Ackerman Road was closed and has since reopened.
