A man police say have promoted prostitution and human trafficking for years in central Ohio has been arrested.

Columbus Police arrested 54-year-old Andrew Harris – also known as Bobby Eric Smith and "Jamaican Rick", Thursday night without incident.

According to police, "Jamaican Rick" and his associates promoted prostitution using the website and lured their victims using violence or exploiting their heroin addictions.

“A lot of people to this day be like why didn’t you just leave,” human trafficking survivor Barbara Freeman said.

Freeman entered the world of drug addiction and human trafficking at 16 years old. She says the control the pimps have over many of the women is unbelievable.

“It could be a grown woman in her 30’s or 40’s being controlled and being trafficked.”

She says the arrest of the notorious pimp is a relief but there are still many men like Harris on the streets.

“Anytime we have anyone arrested for that type of crime that’s always good,” Freeman said.

“That’s just one less person abusing women or going out and making women do things they don’t want to do.”
