COLUMBUS, Ohio — Maddie Kirker is the Morning/Noon Meteorologist for Good Morning CBUS. She joined the Doppler 10 Weather Team November 2022.
Prior to working at WBNS, Maddie brings 10 years of experience from all across the nation. She spent 3 years as the Weekday Noon and 4pm Meteorologist at News 3 in Norfolk, Virginia. She spent 3 years in Colorado Springs at FOX 21 News as the Weekend Morning Meteorologist, 2 years as the Morning Meteorologist at WPDE in Myrtle Beach and began her career as a Meteorologist for 2 years at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi. Throughout her career she’s covered an impressive variety of severe weather events including violent tornadoes, hail storms, hurricanes, wildfires and major flooding events.
Maddie graduated in 2011 from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology. While at Mississippi State, she won honors in the National Collegiate Weather Challenge, forecasting her way to 1st place out of 1,500 undergraduates, and 4th overall in the town of Allentown, PA.
Best yet, Maddie is an Ohio native. Born and raised in Cincinnati, she is no stranger to Columbus. She is proud to call central Ohio home and takes pride in making sure you are ready for whatever weather may interrupt your day and making sure your morning starts right.
When Maddie is not working she enjoys traveling, rock climbing, backcountry camping, hiking and ANYTHING with her 11 year old golden retriever, Chester. Chester, now retired, had an extensive career in TV News as “Chester the Weather Dog” showcasing local pets in “Chester’s Crew” and giving back in “Chester Cares.” The two of them are active members of the globally accredited Go Team Therapy, Airport and Crisis Dogs team. They’ve have spent more thousands of hours volunteering at hospitals, schools and nursing homes and love giving back to the community in anyway they can.
