Gabriela or, "Gaby" was born in Whittier California just outside of Los Angeles and moved to Houston, Texas soon after.
As a young girl, Gabriela enjoyed watching the news, and even "interviewing" her friends and teachers at recess.
She lived in the suburbs of Houston with her family, attending grade school there and eventually became a proud Cougar at the University of Houston, graduating with honors with a B.A. in Journalism.
During her studies, Gabriela took part in a couple of internships, one at a newer media company called Meeko TV and another at Houston Public Media, working with producers and talent on the local NPR station and on the local PBS show, Arts InSight.
Just three days after graduation, she joined WBNS' sister station, KYTX in Tyler, Texas for her first step on her broadcast journey.
She played many roles there, acting as a digital producer, anchor for their 6:30 p.m. show and reporter.
In March 2019, she made the move out to Bryan-College Station to be an anchor and multiskilled journalist at KAGS.
There, she told stories of students or locals overcoming odds to achieve big things, local crime and the coronavirus pandemic's impacts since it began.
She enjoyed her time in the Brazos Valley, but is so excited about her move to Ohio and WBNS!
These days, you can find her happily exploring her new home in Columbus, and she welcomes any local restaurant recommendations with open arms!
