AAA warns central Ohio drivers that cold could drain car batteries

COLUMBUS, Ohio - AAA is expecting more calls for help Tuesday as people wake up to temperatures back in the teens.

Car experts say the problem is with cars that have sat for three days in the cold over the long holiday weekend. Some drivers could come out to find their car batteries drained.

"When we have extreme cold and extreme heat we see batteries being drained very quickly and that can leave drivers stranded without warning," said Kimberly Schwind, Senior Manager of Public Affairs for AAA Ohio Auto Club.

AAA encourages motorists to start their car, so they aren’t caught off guard with any issues. However, you should not leave your car running unattended or for an extended period in an enclosed area.
