9-year-old boy and rabbit shot inside north Columbus home

COLUMBUS, Ohio (10TV) -- A 9-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in north Columbus.

It happened around 11 p.m. Friday on Azelda Street in north Columbus.

Columbus Police say the young child was inside a home with a rabbit when shots were fired from outside the home.

Police say the boy, and the rabbit were both struck by bullets.

The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital and expected to be OK.

Police say the rabbit also survived but is significantly injured and had to have one of its paws removed.

Authorities told 10TV there were about 20 people in the home at the time of the shooting.
