Nine young puppies received care at the San Diego Humane Society after they were found abandoned in a bag that had been duct-taped shut. Now, the search is on for the person responsible.

The humane society says a good Samaritan found what appeared to be Shar-Pei mixes in the sealed, emptied dog food bag at a park in Escondido Thursday and brought them immediately to the organization’s Escondido campus.

The puppies were cold, dehydrated and covered in urine and feces. The humane society says they were treated by medical staff, given fluids, fed and bathed before being moved into foster homes.
