5 injured after reported explosion at Liberty Casting in Delaware, Ohio

DELAWARE, Ohio - Firefighters are on the scene of the Liberty Casting Company in Delaware, Ohio.

Dispatchers took a call for a reported explosion at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday.

City of Delaware Fire Chief John L. Donahue said when firefights arrived at the scene five minutes later, people from the plant said five people were hurt but the fire was out.

Donahue said four of the people were taken to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. One of the people injured was flown to the hospital.

A fifth person was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.

The conditions of the people injured, who are all employees at the plant, were not available but Donahue said they did suffer burns to their bodies.

The cause of the reported explosion is still under investigation.
