"The 40-Something Woman”: Local event aims to help women find a path for themselves

"Adulting" is the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane, but necessary tasks.

For women who are 40-something, adulting has expanded meaning as they take stock of where and who they are in life and how they the feel.

A new, central Ohio event called “Navigating Adulthood: The 40-Something Woman” is aimed at helping women of this age range clear a path toward happiness.

Three trailblazing, female doctors who are improving women’s health and wellbeing around the globe are featured in an inspirational and educational experience.

Dr. Darnise Martin, LA-based life coach, professor and author of the recently released "40 Something: 10 Radical Lessons For Women On How To Live And Love Without Losing Themselves," Dr. Martin encourages women to empower themselves by tackling the challenging work of self-reflection so that they may live their best and most authentic lives.

Dr. Monica Christmas: Dr. Christmas is the Director of the Menopause Program at the University of Chicago Medicine. She is also a Certified Menopause Practitioner of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and serves as the Chief Menopause Editor for WomanLab.

Dr. Shari Hicks-Graham: Owner and lead physician at Downtown Dermatology and the founder of LivSo, a simple system of moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and scalp lotion that promotes healthy, naturally beautiful hair.

The two-day event will support the newly-created Interviewing for Success program for Dress for Success Columbus and the Activists and Agitators program for the YWCA of Columbus.
