3-year-old's repeated attempts to login to iPad locks dad out until 2067

NEW YORK CITY (WTHR) — Everyone can relate to being locked out of an account for a specified amount of time. But what about decades?

After several failed attempts to login, a 3-year-old locked his dad out of his iPad until 2067.

Evan Osnos, who is a staff writer at the New Yorker, posted about the mishap on Twitter asking for suggestions to bypass the wait time.

"Uh, this looks fake but, alas, it’s our iPad today after 3-year-old tried (repeatedly) to unlock. Ideas?"

If you're ever in this situation, engadget.com suggests connecting your device to a computer via USB and opening iTunes. Then back the device up to sync with iTunes and your device should let you type in your password.

As of Monday Osnos told the DailyNews that he was still locked out.

“It’s down a few hundred minutes from yesterday, but it looks like we’ve still got 25 million minutes to go. On Twitter, people have suggested various fixes but the consensus seems to be that we’re using an old operating system that won’t let us restart fresh from iTunes. When I get home from work tonight, I’ll give it a try and see what happens.”
