2 shot near Africentric Early College in east Columbus

COLUMBUS-- Police are investigating the scene of a shooting in east Columbus that put two people in the hospital Saturday.

At approximately 5:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to Allegheny Avenue on reports of gunshots being fired.

Police say one victim arrived at Grant Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left foot and the other victim arrived at Ohio State University East Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right buttock.

Both victims were self transported and stated they were shot at the Africentric School located on Allegheny Avenue, according to Columbus police.

Officers arrived at the Africentric School and secured the crime scene. The scene had multiple caliber shell casings that were a considerable distance apart indicating a possible shootout, according to Columbus police.

Witnesses reported observing multiple fights in the parking lot of the school.
