DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — Two of eight students charged with contaminating their teachers' food with bodily fluids have admitted their guilt and been sentenced.

The boys, both 8th graders at Olentangy Hyatts Middle School when the assault happened in May, both admitted their part in a scheme to taint their teachers' food.

10TV is not identifying the students who planned and carried out this assault or the teachers they victimized.

The incident was recorded by students and posted to social media.

Monday, the first student to appear in court told a judge where he got the idea.

"I was on YouTube and I saw video of a guy putting semen into food and serving it out," the now 15-year-old boy said. "I said, that would be a funny idea, a funny gag. So, I introduced it to my classmates and they thought it was funny. They laughed. So, we went on with it. And it was the day of (May) 16th. And I brought the bag of semen to school, and right before we were about to present our food that we were presenting to the class, I put it in the actual food."

The teachers who were victimized had agreed to judge a student cooking contest.

The victim of this student learned later that afternoon her food had been tainted.

She read a victim impact statement in court.

"I sat there in my principal's office dumbfounded over the fact that someone would even think of doing this. I had no response, no words for how I was feeling, just sitting in shock. Why did this happen? Why did they choose me? I felt targeted, violated."

She was instructed to go to the hospital to be tested for STDs.

"Some days the feeling of anxiety, worry and embarrassment would be small, and some days it suffocated me, and I couldn't get off the couch."

She questioned whether she could return to the classroom.

"I already had my dream job. But because of this prank, because of some kids, they're taking it away from me. They made me fall out of love with teaching. I had lost my empathy for kids and the ability to see the good in them."

The teen admitted what he had done — the juvenile court version of a guilty plea and was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent — the juvenile court version of a conviction.

He turned to speak directly to his victim.

"I just want to say that I am truly and deeply sorry for what I've done," he began to cry as he continued. "There's not a day that goes by that I don't regret what I've done. I just... I'm so sorry."

The second teen, a 14-year-old boy, also admitted to a count of assault on a teacher. Prosecutors said he helped plan the assault and also brought a bag of his semen to school, which he turned over to his classmates to put on food served to teachers.

Judge David Hejmanowski sentenced both teens to 30 of a possible 90 days in juvenile detention, but he did not give an order for the teens to report.

He imposed a list of requirements, including more than 100 hours of community service, a psychological assessment, counseling and a written letter of apology to the victim.

The judge said for any time at any reason, he could order them to report to juvenile detention to begin serving their 30 days.

If the teens violate any of these requirements, the judge could order them detained for up to 90 days.

10TV also learned Monday that the 15-year-old suspect was suspended from school for 10 days and expelled for another 80 days.

The second teen was suspended from school for five days.

A school district spokesperson said all eight students are still enrolled in Olentangy Schools.

In a statement to 10TV, the district said, "We are glad this case is moving forward and we will continue to do everything we can to support local law enforcement and the victims of this case."

The remaining six students charged are due in court later this week.
